I have been deeply involved in education work in the field of music along with my PhD in Composition studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London for the past four years. I have been working as a Violin teacher and Strings group leader at Hendon Prep School and as Music teacher at the EC Lighthouse school in London, also teaching violin privately. During the last year I gained more experience as Creative music workshop leader by holding a Learning Trainee position at the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and a Fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music Open Academy.
As individual violin teacher, I got extensive experience in teaching violin for various ages – my students included 4-12 year old starting violinists with no musical experience, 6-15 year old students of various levels to be prepared to ABRSM exams (up to grade 7), violinists of various ages interested in combination of classical and jazz or folk violin playing.
At BCMG and at RAM OA, large part of my job included assisting and preparing for various creative music workshops in-school and out-of-school for 7-11 year olds and 12-18 year olds, assisting and creating composition for Harborne School Strings Orchestra (for 6-8 year olds). I was working as assisting violinist and composer alongside experienced creative music workshop leaders Nancy Evans, Liz Johnson, Fraser Trainer, Jackie Walduck, Julian West, Duncan Chapman, Ben Markland, and also leading parts of series of in-school and out-of-school workshops myself.
Through my personal creative projects I have experience of collaborative workshops that unite children and adults - professionals, amateurs and non-musicians. As a violinist, composer and as an educator, I am keenly interested in the communication through music—so much so, that I have made it the central focus of my PhD at the Royal Academy of Music (with Prof. Philip Cashian).
To work with people of various ages and to explore various musical repertoires with them, as well as improve their musical and instrumental skills, is a big passion and joy for me as professional musician and music lover.
